چکیده
Recurrent stroke risk in intracranial atherosclerotic disease remains high despite aggressive medical therapy. While hemodynamic insufficiency appears to be a strong marker of recurrence, natural history studies using various unimodal imaging modalities have shown mixed results, as they likely do not adequately capture the complex local environment generated by focal stenosis. Computational fluid dynamics, multimodal tool used simulate flow and interactions between fluids surfaces, has recently been illustrate surrounding lesions risk‐stratify patients on basis simulated outputs. We aimed summarize literature pertaining computational dynamics use describe its future potential generating more targeted therapies.

Computational fluid dynamics of computed tomography angiography to detect the hemodynamic impact of intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis
Background: In symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS), its hemodynamic impact may affect the risk of stroke recurrence, in addition to the degree of luminal stenosis. We therefore conducted a pilot study to evaluate the feasibility to delineate the hemodynamic impact of symptomatic ICAS lesions using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models reconstructed based on computed tom...

Intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) is the most common proximate mechanism of ischemic stroke worldwide. Approximately half of those affected are Asians. For diagnosis of ICAD, intra-arterial angiography is the gold standard to identify extent of stenosis. However, noninvasive techniques including transcranial ultrasound and MRA are now emerging as reliable modalities to exclude moderat...

Computational fluid dynamics has been applied to the design, refinement, and assessment of surgical procedures and medical devices. This tool calculates flow patterns and pressure changes within a virtual model of the cardiovascular system. In the field of paediatric cardiac surgery, computational fluid dynamics is being used to elucidate the optimal approach to staged reconstruction of specifi...
